Shane Speal, the “King of Cigar Box Guitars” has put together a fantastic event for aficionados of the CBG. It will be held on August 28th, 2010, in York, PA. You’ll find vendors selling parts, their own CBG creations, and more, as well as performances by some incredible musicians (including one of my favs, One String Willie) on the main stage, and an open stage for those who’d like to share their music with the world.

What? You’ve never hooped? Hooping is great for your health! I picked it up to help strengthen my back and abdominal muscles, and hooping is a great cardio workout, too. Especially when I’m in UKENHOOPER mode and I’m playing the uke, singing AND hooping at the same time!!
Strengthening your abdominal muscles will help alleviate some back issues, too. Take it slow when you start, join a class if you can, and at the very least, get one of the great DVDs from Hoopnotica! I got my beautiful travel hoop from Hoopnotica, and I take it EVERYWHERE so I can fit in a few minutes of hooping wherever I go.

I’ve been thinking about all the things I like to do, and decided to try to merge some of them together. My friends were asking if I could hoop and play the ukulele at the same time, so I tried it! Thus, the birth of “UKENHOOPER”!
