I challenge you to do something GOOD today!
Make it a point to do at least one “Random Act of Kindness” every week, if not every day!
* Something that will warm another person’s heart.
* Something that will bring a smile to a sad face.
* Something that will take a bit of stress off of a harried person.

If you’re in a drive thru at a fast food restaurant, pay for the next person’s meal.

Pick a solo diner in a restaurant who looks like they need a smile, and ask the waitress for their bill. Pay it anonymously and watch their reaction.

Fill out some greeting cards with pleasant notes, and leave them on car windshields. People will expect some sort of bad note like “I scratched your car” when they open the card, and imagine bringing them a smile when you just wanted to wish a stranger a happy day and tell them to pass the card on.

Plug change into parking meters as you stroll down the street.

When you see a family struggling to take a group photo minus the person who has to snap the shot - offer to do it for them so everyone can get in the picture.

Go to a nursing home and ask the staff who needs a visitor. There are many elderly just itchin’ to share their wonderful stories, and no one ever shows up to listen.

Walk down the street with a few flowers, and just hand them out randomly.

Don’t throw out that good paperback book after you’re done reading it - leave it somewhere with a note taped to it that says, “To whoever reads this note…enjoy the book and pass it on when you’re done”.

Thank someone who is smiling for brightening your day.

Those are just a few ideas to get your brain started. I tell you, once you start doing these little acts, you will be HOOKED. It is so fun to do the anonymous goodnesses. And it is absolutely wonderful to see people’s stressed faces blossom into a smile. There are many opportunities to do little kindnesses for those around us EVERY DAY! If you’ve got other ideas, please comment and share! :)

Until next time, make life a beautiful thing,

book cover

I have been a busy girl…airbrushing decals, painting canvases for an art show in May, and putting the finishing touches on my book, “Intimate Nature“.

Here is the book description from the back cover:
“Within ‘Intimate Nature’, Dawn Schmidt Ventimiglia shares memories of experiences which were stirred up by a stack of photographs and her art, and recounts how those experiences shaped her view of spirituality and the connectedness of all things. This provocative work inspires and delights the reader with Dawn’s deeply personal thoughts, in addition to providing simple and interesting explanations for some of the natural phenomena she describes.

The writer’s enthusiasm for both nature and learning shine through in her stories which include a humorous meeting with a flamingo, the zen of shark tooth hunting, the serendipity of finding a word in the grass, and her thoughts on meditation and transformation.

Dawn’s tales spiral around baraka, bats, aurora borealis, namaste, mermaid’s purses, singing trees and prairie dogs as she brings natural and spiritual worlds together, where there are no endings or beginnings, only an unending circular journey through forever.”

It was an amazing thing to have the memories pour out of me and onto the pages. I hope you enjoy reading the book as much as I enjoyed writing it!
